Construction Season

Four years and nine miles of road construction
Massive piles made of concrete and dirt
Dredge up the seeds of millions of flowers
A yellow carpet winding down the road

But the promise of better landscaping —
Innovation must mean their destruction
Smothered under thick piles of dry hay
Over seeded and watered with turf grass

Yet the flowers came back even thicker
Choking out the seeds of the green turf grass
Thriving on the chaos of destruction
Flora blooming brightest in upheaval

The work of millions of dollars undone
By millions of tiny yellow flowers
